Sony to Lose $900M in 2006/2007 on PS3 Launch?
Sony Corp. said on Thursday that it expected its game division to post a loss of about 100 billion yen, hit by start-up costs for its PlayStation 3 game machine. Thatâ??s almost a billion dollars Sony is looking to lose to launch the PS3. And to think that many of us thought Sony would actually learn from the mistakes of Microsoft.
This really isn’t something new…consoles have been losing money on resale VS cost…but I’m more surprised how no one is picking up on the Blu-Ray…that is the driving force behind the PS3…Sony must include the Blu-Ray in the PS3…Blu-Ray+Loyal PS Gamers=Blu-Ray flooded market…this could be the end of the VHS/Beta comparison to Blu-Ray/HD-DVD…Sony knows what they’re doing, and they don’t mind taking a hit in the game division to insure a huge profit in their Home Entertainment Division…Welcome to CrzyLand
