University Implements GPS Tracking of Students
Monclair State University gave all incoming freshman a cellphone that equipped with a GPS tracker but the system is an opt-in system. One of the safety features that was explained is a 15-minute Guardian. A little blip of you will pop up at the police station and the Guardian will remain on for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes it will remind you to turn the Guardian off.
If you don’t turn of the Guardian campus police will then go to your location, and check on you. Basically this is a way for call for help in 15mins if you’re too worried about getting attacked. I guess the down side to all this is if you turn it on, and then are attacked and beaten, you could lay there for up to 13mins, just waiting. Welcome to CrzyLand
