Climate Control, Beijing-Style: Can China Control Olympics Weather?

"Not content with simply making it rain, now Chinaâ??s weather modifiers have taken on another meterological mission: to help guarantee perfect weather when Beijing hosts the Olympic Games in 2008.

I'm not sure what's going on with China...or why the hell they're so damn good at making rain, and yet you never hear about this elsewhere...but China now wants to talk about making perfect weather for the Olympics...really this sounds like they're looking to make it rain before it will have a chance to rain on the site of the Olympics...basically drainning a storm in advance...not a bad idea, assuming that it doesn't move too fast and end up soaking the Olympic site altogether...Welcome to CrzyLand

24 Year-Old SPAM King Settles Microsoft Lawsuit

One of the world's most notorious spammers has settled lawsuits that cost him at least $1 million, took away most of his assets and forced him to stop sending spam. Ryan Pitylak, 24, who graduated from the University of Texas last month, has admitted sending 25 million e-mails every day at the height of his spamming operation in 2004.

Yet again another "Spam King" has been taken down by the long arm of the law...but this guy simply has to pay a small fine of $1 million after sending e-mail to millions of people...I guess the fact that he has to sell his house and new 2005 BMW...hard to feel sorry for him...at least he's got a good new job helping companies to stop spam...Welcome to CrzyLand

Man Plans Launching himself 20 Miles into the Air using Rail Gun

Stretch a carbon-fiber bowstring 24 feet along a rail, fire up a jet turbine with 1,350 pounds of thrust, hit a trigger, and pull 10 gs as his craft, modeled on spaceships from Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica, shoots to the stratosphere. He'll plummet back to Earth using hydrogen peroxide rockets

This really just seems like a guy trying to get a jump on this years Darwin Award by nominating himself before the act...I do enjoy how he mentions that this might be a way to launch sky-divers into the air...making the airplane and fule it consumes useless...but alas we get to the point about modeling his ship from Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica...end of the day, a CrzyMan...Welcome to CrzyLand

Chicago Cops to Get Segways to Fight Crime

"Chicago cops have a well-deserved reputation for being the toughest guys in a tough town. But you've got to wonder how many heads they are going to have to crack to keep that reputation up, now that more and more officers are riding around the Windy City on Segway scooters."

The city claims that the cost are offset since fewer cops are needed to cover the same area. In fact they claim to recoupe the expense in as little as one month. The upside for the cops is obvious...get fat eatting donuts, and no worries of being able to walk since you can just ride your Segway around...I'm sure the next model will have a donut holder, until then you'll have to drive with one hand...Welcome to CrzyLand

Nanocrystal Displays: Using Quantum Dots in Future Flat Screens

This is QD Vision's first display -- a monochromatic 32-by-64-pixel test bed for a technology Coe-Sullivan hopes will replace those used in today's high-definition TVs. Thin and flexible, the next-generation display will be easy to see in sunlight and less power hungry than the one in your current laptop, he says.

Just when you thought it was safe to buy that flatscreen TV here comes another reason to hold off. The real kick in this display is how it shows colors. LCD's have a backlight, this doesn't. Each pixel in the display is made of three colors, red, blue and green. This is achived with nanoparticles called quantum dots allowing part of the pixel to be red, and another part to be blue, making a purple pixel with vibrant color. This design will make LCD displays seem dual and washed out, and even outperform CRT for color display. Did I mention they're flexable? This just could be that digital newspaper that folds up into your pocket...Welcome to CrzyLand

"Corruption Goes All the Way to the Top", Says Pirate Bay Chief

"Orders went straight top to bottom, from the Swedish minister of Justice,to Chief Prosecutor, etc, to the policemen doing the raid." minister of Justice,to Chief Prosecutor, etc, to the policemen doing the raid."

Basically what you have here is the U.S. gov. stepping in for the MPAA to pressure Swedish offcials to arrest the people who run Pirate Bay website. Swedish law allows them to do what they're doing...they weren't breaking ANY laws. Yet due to the U.S. backed pressure, the Swedish goverment decided they needed to shut them down. It's getting harder and harder to defend the actions of our government everyday. The men arrested said they should have the site back up and running shortly probally just forcing the authorities to arrest them again. Of course this will snowball into an underground distribution of a web site, the fina goal being to never allow the site to go down no matter how hard they try. Welcome to CrzyLand
